This is a pretty unique extract flavor, that is right up my alley. I really enjoy the very nutty taste of hazelnuts. It's the most classic nut taste so this extract is perfect for adding a nut flavor to any kind of baked goods that might call for it--think banana bread, oat bran muffins, etc.
I used it to add double the nuttiness to cookies that I made with ground hazelnuts. I've been eating these style of cookies for most of my life but almost always made of ground pecans. I had some ground hazelnuts to use and I enhanced the effect with hazelnut extract. They were fantastic. The extract is concentrated similar to other extracts, so about a teaspoon is a good amount for a typical home baking recipe. It's easy to use, or to combine with other extracts such as vanilla, rum, or banana. Any of those combinations would be delicious!
This comes with a plain screw lid. I struggle to pour from these types of bottles without spilling it down the side of the bottle a little bit.
This Hazelnut Extract is one of the best extracts I've ever used. The bottle is a good size, and perfectly sealed. The color is darker like I would expect from an actual extract. This smells absolutely amazing! It's rich and nutty, and doesn't smell or taste weird. It also tastes nutty, and not overly bitter or overly sweet. This mixes in well with most liquids, and doesn't leave a weird oily film at the top of liquids. I like to mix this in with my coffee when I don't want an overly sweet drink, and it works perfectly. I also mix this in with banana bread if I don't have actual nuts, and it bakes really well! I think this hazelnut extract is superb It's affordable, and has so many versatile uses that it's well worth the $14.99 price
This hazelnut extract has a strong toasted hazelnut flavor and aroma. It doesn't contain any sugar, but there's a hint of sweetness from the propylene glycol. I can also taste the alcohol when I put this extract in milk or coffee. However, the alcoholic taste disappears completely when I used the extract in baked goods.
I put some of this extract in my chocolate-hazelnut mini-muffins, and it made a huge difference. I use ground toasted hazelnuts and hazelnut cream, so these muffins already have a strong hazelnut flavor. But this hazelnut extract adds a rich, intense, and deeply aromatic nutty flavor that I don't get from the toasted hazelnuts alone. I think it's perfect for baking since the toasted hazelnut flavor seems to intensify through the baking process.
I love that this extract is made with organic hazelnuts and that it's manufactured in the USA.
The hazelnut flavoring for this is not organic and there are other ingredients, including artificial ones, that are listed. That said, it generally has a hazelnut smell and taste. When used heavily, such as for a syrup, it's very apparent that the hazelnut flavoring is not pure and that there is a bit of an artificial taste to it. However, it blends well in liquid mixtures and I've had no issues with using this in baking like breads and muffins. I have had no issues with leaking either and it's quite easy to use and measure out, so the baking ability of this is quite good.
Overall, I would say this is not a recommended substitute for general hazelnut, but it's a decent substitute for it.
I have always used vanilla and almond extract. This was the first time I've seen Hazelnut Extract. This tastes great in coffee and in baked goods. I think the quality is excellent but I don't have any others to compare it to.
I have been loving these Harvest Moon Extracts and was excited to try Hazelnut. I like to make homemade caramel sauce and used this Harvest Moon Hazelnut extract in this batch. The harvest moon extract is clear in color (hard to see with the amber colored bottle) but it was noticeable in the completed batch as the caramel was a little bit lighter than it usually is due to lack of brown food coloring, but color ultimately doesn't matter...what matters is the taste, and this tastes wonderful. For the price you get 2 full ounces of the extract which is a nice value. The extract is organic and the hazelnut flavoring is spot on. This is a great brand of extracts you can trust will be delicious in your food or drinks.

So far only used once in a white cake that had ground hazelnuts in it. Used 1 tsp extract and it gave it a nice nutty flavor. Not too strong but just right

This is the best and I've tried many. Great flavor and aroma. It's expensive, but you don't need much. 4-5 drops for large ice coffee plus tiny bit of sweetner.

1x 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk
1/4 TEASPOON of this hazelnut extract
1 1/4 cup of milk of your choice
Shake up in a blender bottle. For ease of use.
The concentration of this stuff is POTENT. The aroma comes through well enough even with just the 1/4 TEASPOON. I was hesitant to buy cause of the price but knowing how much creamer I can make now from just so little it's well worth the cost.
